We first got together as a group in 2001 to play instruments together - nothing professional, just having fun - and that's the way things all started out. We all lived near Cambridge, Ohio and our families had been good friends , so we started really enjoying being together and singing and playing music together. And we started doing it for some of the elderly people we knew and it seemed they enjoyed it alot. Then one night we were playing for one of our neighbors and somehow things just weren't coming together - we couldn't seem to be able to play together that night. Finally they asked if we'd do the last song a capella. It was a new thought but we tried it and - surprise - we sounded better than we ever had singing with instruments! ( And they didn't mind letting us know ! )
We got alot closer in 2002 - 2003 as we sang together more. We would get together to sing and end up talking (and laughing). Jon and Stephen were usually the comedians of the bunch and we'd all end up telling ourselves to sing instead of talk! Amber was the one who'd end up saving us at last minute crises by getting the notes to a song or copying one for us. Rose is the dependable one who was always the same and kept our heads on straight. I'm not sure what I did except get into trouble and laugh ! ( Of course, I had to sing
somewhere in there.)From there we started singing at churches and for a quite a while we did alot of traveling. We got so many requests for a recording that for the first time, we actually started considering it seriously in 2004 , even though the Byler family was planning on moving to North Carolina. They Moved in July and we got together to record in August. We thought for awhile there that we wouldn't be able to make it , but we did ! In July of 2005 Amber married David Yoder from Tennessee. Rose married Luke Wipf and moved to SD. So we're all in different states now , with Jon in North Carolina, Amber 'n David in Tennessee, Rose in SD, and Stephen and I still here in Ohio . . We do miss each other , but I think we're all excited about serving the Lord and what He will be doing in our lives. ~ JoAnna Lee
